2023  Stocking Decorating Contest

To participate in the Stocking Decorating Contest, register and pick up your stocking the West Volusia Historical Society by Tuesday, November 21th 4 pm. At home, decorate or embellish your stocking choosing one of the categories indicated below and return your decorated stocking to WVHS by Friday, November 24th at 2 pm. They will be displayed at the Twelve Days of Christmas event on Saturday, November 25th where they will be judged and prizes awarded. You may pick up your stocking after judging, or make arrangements to pick it up the following week at the Historical Society. You may also donate your decorated stocking to be sold in the Holiday Boutique during the Christmas in Bloom Twelve Days of Christmas events.

The West Volusia Historical Society’s fourth annual Christmas in Bloom is celebrating The Twelve Days of Christmas. The holiday season celebrations will be held in the West Volusia Historical Society Conrad Educational & Research Center, 137 W. Michigan Avenue, DeLand. The events begin on Tuesday, November 14 and continue through Saturday, December 2. Shop in our Makers’ Guild Holiday Boutique and Old Fashioned Bake Shop, and join in the fun of the many special events during The Twelve Days of Christmas: Kids’ Make-a-Gift activities, Gingerbread Contest (for kids ages 13 and under), Stocking Decorating Contest (for ages 14 and over), Ladies’ Wine & Shop Night, Shop in Your PJs, Gift Wrapping Service, Men’s Night, and our Evening Music & Shopping Event. Programs and services provided by the Historical Society are funded in part through this annual event.

Registration is Required.  Register in person at the West Volusia Historical Society Conrad Educational and Research Center located at 137 W Michigan Avenue in DeLand. The office is open Tuesday – Saturday from 12 noon to 4 pm. Pick up your stocking to decorate when you sign up. You will have the option to create a stocking that is sewn together - front and back, and then decorated, or in two separate pieces - a front and back - that you will sew together once you have decorated the pieces. Depending on how you plan to decorate your stocking, you can choose the stocking format that will work best.

What is the Twelve Days of Christmas?

Who can enter the contest?  Anyone age 14 and older. Note: Kids younger than 14 years may want to participate in the Gingerbread Cookie Decorating Contest. See information about the cookie decorating contest here.

Registration Deadline:  Tuesday, November 21st.  Registration Fee - $15 per person. This fee includes a large red fleece stocking to decorate or embellish.

Judging: All decorated stockings will be displayed and judged at 1 pm during the Twelve Days of Christmas event, Saturday, November 25th.  Prizes will be awarded by category.


You may take your stocking home after judging or arrange to pick it up at the Conrad Center the following week.  Or you may donate your stocking to be offered for sale in the Holiday Boutique during the Christmas in Bloom Twelve Days of Christmas.
