2023 Gingerbread Cookie Decorating Contest
To participate in the contest, kids must register between Saturday, October 14th and Tuesday, November 14th at the West Volusia Historical Society Conrad Center. Participants decorate their gingerbread men however they wish and return them to the Conrad Center by Friday, November 17th and the entries will be displayed at the Twelve Days of Christmas event on Saturday, November 18. Gingerbread men will be judged, and prizes awarded at 1 pm. Additionally, all those attending the Christmas in Bloom event may cast their votes for People’s Choice awards. The West Volusia Historical Society’s fourth annual Christmas in Bloom is celebrating The Twelve Days of Christmas. The holiday season celebrations will be held in the West Volusia Historical Society Conrad Educational & Research Center, 137 W. Michigan Avenue, DeLand. The events begin on Tuesday, November 14 and continue through Saturday, December 2. Shop in our Makers’ Guild Holiday Boutique and Old Fashioned Bake Shop, and join in the fun of the many special events during The Twelve Days of Christmas: Kids’ Make-a-Gift activities, Gingerbread Contest (for kids ages 13 and under), Stocking Decorating Contest (for ages 14 and over), Ladies’ Wine & Shop Night, Shop in Your PJs, Gift Wrapping Service, Men’s Night, and our Evening Music & Shopping Event. Registration is Required. Register in person at the West Volusia Historical Society Conrad Educational and Research Center located at 137 W Michigan Avenue in DeLand. The office is open Tuesday – Saturday from 12 noon to 4 pm.
Decorate the gingerbread man as you wish!
Gingerbread people may be decorated as gingerbread boys or girls, in a traditional or contemporary style, or with a holiday theme.
Return the decorated gingerbread person to the Conrad Center by Friday, November 17th by 2 pm.

What is the Twelve Days of Christmas?
Who can enter the contest? Kids 13 years of age and younger are eligible for the contest and compete in age groups: 5 years old and younger; 6 years old – 9 years old; 10 years old – 13 years old. Note: Kids 14 years and older may want to participate in the Stocking Decorating Contest. See information on the Stocking Decorating Contest here.
When is registration? Saturday, October 14th thru Tuesday, November 14th. Registration Fee - $3 per person
Judging: Judges will be looking for creativity and neatness. Additionally, all those attending the Twelve Days of Chriastmas event will be able to vote for People's Choice by dropping coins into jars that correspond to each gingerbread entry. Our team of judges will award prizes at 1 pm on Saturday, November 18th.
Note: Entries not picked up at the 12 Days of Christmas event will be discarded. You do not have to be present to receive a prize. We will notify prize winners the following week if prizes are not picked up at the event.
